The Certified AI Accountant (CAIA®) designation recognizes accounting and finance professionals who have demonstrated applied competence in artificial intelligence, data analytics, governance, and digital technologies within modern accounting and audit environments.

CAIA® is designed for professionals who do not merely use AI tools, but who understand, govern, and apply AI responsibly in accounting, assurance, and financial decision-making.

Why CAIA® is needed

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how accounting work is performed— from transaction processing and audit analytics to fraud detection and decision support. However, the adoption of AI introduces new risks, governance challenges, and professional responsibilities. Many existing AI programs focus on technical skills alone.

CAIA® fills a critical gap by providing a profession-grade certification that balances:

  • AI applications in accounting and audit
  • Governance, risk management, and internal controls
  • Professional judgment, ethics, and auditability
  • Cybersecurity, fraud, and digital assurance

CAIA® ensures that accounting professionals remain trusted stewards of financial integrity in an AI-enabled environment.

Who Should Pursue CAIA®

CAIA® is suitable for:

  • Accountants and finance professionals
  • Auditors and assurance practitioners
  • Finance managers and controllers
